T activists hurl chappals at convoy of Komatireddy

ADILABAD: That the government's Rachchabanda programme would be a stormy affair in the Telangana region in the coming days became all too clear on Friday when Telangana activists hurled eggs, slippers and stones at the convoy of district in-charge minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy here. Elsewhere in Rangareddy district, home ministerSabita Indra Reddy faced the ire of T-protagonists.

The agitators hurled eggs and chappals at the convoy of the minister when he came to the R&B guest house to review the arrangements for theRachchbanda programme, which is scheduled to be launched on January 24. As if this wasn't enough, some protestors pelted stones on the convoy. Luckily, the minister was unhurt as the stones were targeted at a vehicle which was preceding the minister's car.

The protestors shouted slogans that he was giving priority to keeping his ministerial berth instead of fighting for the separate state. They demanded that Venkat Reddy tender his resignation from both his minister and MLA posts. When Telangana JAC leaders tried to obstruct the minister's convoy, police foiled their attempts by arresting 50 TRS and BJP activists.

Unperturbed, the minister criticised the agitators saying such protests would do more damage to the T-cause. He said the Rachchabanda programme was aimed at providing immediate relief to the needy and faulted the T-protagonists for trying to stall it. Meanwhile, the home minister's convoy was stopped by Telangana activists at Tukkuguda in RR district when she was on her way to take part in some official programmes.
